Discovery Metadata

The runtm.discovery.yaml file makes your deployments searchable by description, tags, and capabilities.

Why Discovery?

As you deploy more apps, finding them becomes challenging. Discovery metadata lets you:
  • Search by description: runtm search "payment webhook"
  • Filter by tags: runtm search "api" --template backend-service
  • Document capabilities for future reference
  • Enable agent-to-agent discovery

Creating Discovery Files

Search Ranking

Fields are searched in order of importance:

Best Practices

Bad: “An API service” Good: “Stripe webhook handler that processes payment events and updates order status”
Include technology (stripe, postgres), type (api, webhook), domain (payments, auth)
Bad: “Does things” Good: “Process webhooks”, “Send emails”, “Update database”
Keep discovery metadata in sync with actual functionality.
